Manistee Fishing Reports

July 9,2012

Fishing in Manistee remains very good.  We left the dock at 5:48 am.  The action started slow, but the fish were there.  We just pecked away with mag glow spoons and one small black rotator on a 120' diver. We had been working the 80' to 130' of water with 6 or 7 bites for 1 1/2 hours of trolling. We started a west troll at a 162' of water we hit a triple. The troll continued west and we dropped in a couple meat riggs and a big white rotator.  The 1/2 coppers started fireing with orange regular spoons.  Then the meat riggs started catching.  Most all the fish taken were in that 35' to 80' range.  We turned back east after taking several more fish.  The east troll was good to us finishing our box.

Good Luck

Manistee fishing remains very good w/catches of big adult kings and a few steelhead throwed in.  July 4th we took the grandkids out for a couple of hours before the fireworks.  Pulled lines at 9:30 not wanting to miss the fireworks.  9 bites and 7 nice kings to show.  All the action was in 110' to 130' of water.  Fishing down 50' to 80' with mas glow spoons and the large white rotator took a couple fish.  The divers had a few bites with mag spoons.

Good Luck

Fishing in Manistee was very good this morning. We left the dock at 5:15 am and was back at 8:05 am.  The marina owner said “Fish the Flats” 16 north to 14.75 south.  It was nonstop action.  Big black paddle took the first bite and glow mag spoons all went in the next 20 minutes. At 7 am we dropped in a couple meat riggs – 1chute rigger w/meat & 1 diver w/meat.  The diver went3 times in the next 30 minutes along w/the glow mag spoons.  We never got 6 rods in the water at once.  The total depth fished was 90’ to 130’, fishing down 50’ to 80’.  The smallest fish in the box was 8 ¼# and the largest was 22#

Good luck

Manistee fishing is going strong with good catches.  I have seen some good signs of bait fish and kings with thier bellies full.  The 1/2 leads & 1/2 coppers have been doing most of the work, the divers have also done some work.  Our riggers have been slow understandably because of the cold water.  The cold water should be replaced with all the south & southwest winds in the forecast.  Mostly regular size spoons in stinger, DW, moonshine, pro kings & yeck.  All our fish were taken in the top 60 feet.

Good Luck-The Capt.
